Mine is the same! Have you found a way of improving this?
No, I tried a bunch or third party apps which didn't work at all and gave up. Odd thing not having an alternative for such a popular device
Do you have a good wifi connection speed on your chromecast? Low bandwidth from a less than perfect wifi signal can be one cause of this.
when i connect it only displays my mouse and black screen but casting tabs works fine
It says up top that it can cast your desktop, I can only cast things while on the internet. The arrow next to the icon is also not there... help?
Article has been completely rewritten as Google removed the browser extension and instead built the cast functionality into Chrome.
i just did this today with mine and it looks different than the screenshot now. The arrow is actually right next to the text Cast To. Its in a blue heading right above where it shows your devices.
Yes, I just found that this morning too! Working perfectly now! Thanks for the comment Alec!
I'm trying to enable desktop streaming and then play Steam games, but it crashes as soon as any game loads. Am I doing something wrong?
Yes. You can't stream high end content like gaming with a chrome-cast it can not keep up.
Yes, that is what I used to write this article.
My router cannot disable IGMP (Wireless Isolation), is there a work around to get my computer to find my chromecast?
Why on earth would your router be set to have device isolation turned on? It's not much of a network if your devices cannot talk to each other. More like a "not"work... see what I did there? If your router truly does not let you disable isolation, I'd suggest a new router.
The Chromecast uses broadcast messages to announce itself to other devices on the network. According to Google, if that is enabled, your Chromecast won't work. https://support.google.com/...
It just worked for me, although I can't remember if I was sharing my entire screen or just a tab. I'll test again and let you know.
